Layne Kleinart has always been influenced by the environment and finds inspiration in the mystery and beauty of the plants, animals, objects and people in her life and travels. Her interest in the psychological aspect of the subject is suggested through gesture, expression, and the emotion of color.
In her painting and printmaking Kleinart mixes techniques in order to combine the immediacy and freshness of gestural painting with the possibility of layering information and the element of chance found in printmaking. Multiple images allow her to expand and contract the size and shape of an installation depending upon the specific site. Each piece exists as a small part of the whole in order to create a richer “story”.
